"I remember the strange empty feeling when I realized that the only reason that I have the Bible was the Catholic Church." On the one hand Marcus Grodi led Catholics out of the Church to his church using the Bible. His expression was “SHOW IT TO ME IN THE BIBLE.” On the other hand, he remembers when he first realized the Bible owes its existence to the Catholic Church.
NILO SAYS: Regarding the Old Latin, which is not the same thing as the Catholic Vulgate, Agustine and Tertullian both speak of this ancient version as existing since 157-190 A.D.
LENNY SAYS: Nilo, of course there were manuscripts of specific books in the second century, that no longer exist. Do you think they made the Bible up when they fully determined the New Testament in the fourth Century? The point is still made, these were hand written manuscripts and they were produced by Catholic monks. These fringe Protestant groups are all new man-made inventions. They are so new they even see Martin Luther and other Protestants as heretics.
If the Catholic Church is so bad then why would you and your church believe any Bible because you have to trust Catholic manuscripts in order to come up with your Bible? Your man made tradition at best doesn't go back more than a hundred years much less two thousand. Criticize the Catholic Church all you want. But, remember this, every time you do so, you are unwittingly testifying to historical existence of the Catholic Church going back to Christ and the Apostles. Guess what, I can’t criticize your Church in history, because it didn’t exist in history. So I have two choices; I can either believe your newer man-made tradition or I can believe the Catholic Church which goes all the way back to Jesus and the Apostles. I was listening to the " Journey Home" on EWTN and Marcus Grodi, Catholic convert. He says he can still remember well the time when he first came to the realization that without the Catholic Church we don't have a Bible.
I hear Protestants tell me all the time that all Churches are man-made institutions. Of course they have to say this because they have no choice; the moment they say their church is a God inspired church; they have to say why their church is the one founded by Jesus and the Apostles. Once they say they are THE church founded by Jesus, they are now at odds with the other more than 38,000 Protestant groups. And, they also have to show how their particular church has a history that goes back to Christ and the Apostles. Only the Catholic along with the Eastern Orthodox can show this.
When they tell me their churches are man-made institutions, I don’t disagree; why should I, they are correct. But if they say the Catholic Church is a man-made institution they are incorrect. And they are incorrect because the Church that Jesus founded is inspired by God. We believe this because it says so in the Bible. “And members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with CHRIST JESUS himself as the capstone. (Eph 2:19-20). They are partially correct; there is man involvement “the apostles and prophets;” however, the Church “household of God” is more than man-made. It has CHRIST JESUS as the capstone and is therefore God inspired.
I know of no Protestant Church who claims their church is built upon the foundation of the APOSTLES and PROPHETS, with CHRIST JESUS himself as the capstone. (Eph 2:19-20). They speak against apostolic succession. This is the Catholic claim. But perhaps I am wrong; maybe there is a church or churches that will make this claim. If there is, I would like to hear from this church and I would also like to know how it claims apostolic succession going back to the apostles and prophets and Jesus. And I would also like to know why this particular Church is the one, with Christ Jesus as the capstone, and not ONE of the other more than 30,000 Protestant Churches.

Jesus said “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free!” and Marcus, confronted with the truth, had the humility to accept it. Welcome home Marcus!
